Cookie notice

Last updated 5 October 2026

In short

  • Two cookies are needed for the service: one remembers the estates you started in this browser, the other keeps you signed in.
  • Statistics (PostHog) store nothing in your browser until you choose “Accept”. After “Reject”, your browser sends no statistics at all.
  • No advertising cookies, no social media trackers and no recordings of your visit.

Cookies the service needs

These are “strictly necessary” under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR, Schedule A1 paragraph 4): the service you ask for cannot work without them, so we do not ask for permission. Both are first-party cookies that scripts in the page cannot read (httpOnly).

Necessary cookies
NameWhat it doesHow long
it_anonRemembers the estates you started in this browser, so that only this browser (or you, after signing in) can open them. It holds a random code, not your name or e-mail address.1 year
it_sessionKeeps you signed in after you open a sign-in link from your e-mail.30 days, or until you sign out

Our network provider Cloudflare may also set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from automated attacks.

Your statistics choice

Statistics with PostHog

We use PostHog (PostHog, Inc., USA) to count how the site is used — for example how many people finish the free check — so that we can improve it. We never send amounts, names, dates or anything read from your documents.

  • Until you choose: page views and steps are counted without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. The random number that ties one visit together exists only while the page is open, so we cannot recognise you on a later visit.
  • If you choose “Reject”: your browser sends no statistics at all.
  • If you choose “Accept”: PostHog stores a random ID in a cookie and in browser storage (names starting with ph_, for up to 1 year) so that repeat visits are counted once. We also keep, for 30 days, which campaign or website brought you here the first time (it_ft, browser storage).

Paying with Stripe

Payment happens on Stripe’s own checkout page (checkout.stripe.com). Stripe sets its own cookies there, for example to prevent fraud. See Stripe’s cookie settings and privacy policy.
